is the founding director of Mousetrap Theatre Projects, a theatre education charity dedicated to creating opportunities for disadvantaged young people and young people with special needs to attend outstanding theatre across London. Founded in 1997, Mousetrap Theatre Projects now runs 21 innovative access, creative learning and youth engagement programmes which enabled 15,000 young people to atten d theatre last year, many for the first time.
Prior to this appointment, Susan was the Development Officer for the Society of London Theatre (1989 – 1997), where she was responsible for information services, marketing, press and public affairs. Her first arts position in the UK was Project Director for the Association of British Orchestras.
Susan chairs John Lyon’s Charity, which gives out £10.5 million for disadvantaged young people in the nine boroughs from the City of London to Harrow, is a Governor of Harrow School, an Advisory Board Member of Facing History and Ourselves, an organisation that teaches teachers how to engage students in discussions of racism, prejudice and anti-Semitism, is a Board Member of Action for Children’s Arts and a Board member of the newly created DanceWest. Susan is a past Chair of Democrats Abroad UK and attended the Democratic National Conventions in 1992 and 1996.
